I'm writing this blog just to be safe about my grade. I think I may have turned in one like an hour late once.
So school is so close to over. I am really looking forward to Summer. But I'm sure I will be ready to come back in a month or so. But these finals are going to be horrible. I hate having the finals so close to break because I really want to stop working. I am literally leaving less than an hour after my last final. I think I know what my final grades will be but I am not completely sure. I'm not ready for next semester at all. From what I hear, my next semester could be the hardest I will have at college. I have many tough classes and 19 credits. Also I have a schedule that requires a lot of late classes. I don't enjoy getting out of class when it's dark out and realizing that it's too late to do anything fun. I'm not a fan of working late but I have no choice.
So this weekend was a lot of fun. It will probably be the last time I will go out this semester since I will be doing some studying. I went with my friend and his fraternity to some place where they had rented a bunch of cabins. One of his frat buds got way too drunk and went into the wrong cabin. So basically he broke into some random cabin. He then fell asleep in a random bed that had two people already sleeping in it. The next morning we all find out that the bed had two women activists in it. Therefore, we all got kicked out and had to leave the site by 10 am. It was an interesting experience.
So I thought I'd finish this up talking about summer. I always thought of summer as a time to forget about school completely. It's good to get away from all the stress that I feel almost every day at college. I am really looking forward to the beach because it has been a while since I have been to any beach. I also like seeing my family and I always have a good time seeing my cousins. There's a lot to look forward to.

this week in soccer
What to write about.
We have written way too many of these.
I played in the World Cup tournament yesterday that the Virginia Tech Men's soccer team holds every year. There were like 20-30 teams and it was conducted like a World Cup tournament. You were guaranteed 5 games in the group stages. The fields were about half the size of the normal fields, which meant for a lot more goals and the games were about 30 minutes long. It was a lot of fun and it was good to finally get some sun. Maybe I got a little too much sun. I am pretty red right now but its all good. The tournament started at 8 am, which really pisses me off. As if I don't lose enough sleep to my early classes every day. But I guess it's better to have early classes than really late ones. Speaking of soccer, did any of you see the United States Soccer player, Jozy Altidore, headbutt another guy in an English premier League game, Zidane style? It was on ESPN and all I have to say is don't mess with the US. It was pretty funny because he barely touched the guy with his head but the guy went flying like he was shot with a RPG. Diving in soccer goes a bit too far a lot of the time. I'm not a stickler if the player falls easily because he was forced off balance by someone else. But I hate it when I see a player just jump over or into a player completely and cry of an injury for 10 minutes and then just jump up and are running full speed in no time, Ronaldo and Drogba style.
So my friend was telling me the other day how bad the food at his college is and I decided to make him jealous about what we can eat here at Virginia Tech. He about lost it when I said we had lobster at one of our dining halls. It's good to go to a school where the food is good, the football is good, and the education is good.

LOST
I like the weeks the most when we have an in-class assignment we can post as our blog, but we don't have one this week. Every week I find it more difficult to write my blogs because I have less to say and don't want to repeat myself.
This semester has gone by really fast. We have less than a month left until summer, which means soon all my tests are going to be arriving. In a lot of my classes, I have the final test on the material, and then the actual final exam on everything. Which pretty much means that these final weeks will suck.
The three day weekend went well atleast. I went out every night and had a lot of fun. The only problem was I had something important like the Big Event to do every day, so I didn't get much sleep. I think a nap after I post this will be awesome. Getting up for English was kinda rough. Speaking of English, I am not a big fan of the chat rooms. We are sitting two feet from each other and have to type whatever we have to say. Which I find sort of awkward. But I have to say, more gets said in the chatrooms than in actual class from each other and I don't know why. I did laugh pretty hard at what Greg typed at the end.
A couple weeks ago I started watching LOST on Netflix because all my shows are just showing reruns. I thought it was great at first but now I'm starting to realize why most people don't care for it anymore. Every single episode is the same, in that a huge mystery or question is introduced, that will probably never be answered. And the plot went from eerie and mysterious, to complete rubbish and rediculousness. I am now constantly asking myself whose ass they pulled that damn idea out of. And though I dont really care for the new episodes, I will probably still end up finishing the series because some of the questions I have will take a while to be answered. It's a show that I'd recommend but you can only watch a couple episodes at a time, because you will need the rest of the day to get mad at what just happened. But it is a pretty cool show because it is creative and can really stretch your imagination. It's something that will probably never be done ever again. So that's my beef with LOST. And the fat guy in the show never loses weight.

Origin Story

This is my wacky origin poem/story. I know it doesn't make any sense but who cares. It has a beginning, middle, and end. The middle part is a poem.
Origin of Socks
Prologue
People die every day. But many used to die from the lack of comfortable materials on their feet. Day after day, peoples’ feet were left uncomfortably alone and often would cause a collapse of the brain, leading to either death or paralysis. Scientists looked for answers for years, eventually getting to the “pillow on foot” method that decreased death statistically but caused more awkward circumstances with large pillows on feet. This caused people to die of such things as embarrassment and falls caused by large pillows on the feet.
Story
That’s where the origin began
With a guy named Stan
He knew something was wrong
Nothing could help, not even a song
So he had a plan
Not an ordinary plan
One that could change people and feet
One that could take off some heat
He had created something
Suited for a king
But they will be cheap
And worn by all that have feet to keep
If only we had something to put our feet into
He said with a “phew”
Because he was relieved
And began to believe
That this problem can be figured out
He just wanted to shout
He had created socks
And he sold them by the box
Epilogue
That’s how and why socks were created. No one ever died from uncomfortable feet ever again. Stan became a billionaire but lost it all gambling. So that’s when he created Gamblers Anonymous and its 12 step program for people like him. Then, he died of alcoholism and is still known as the “alcoholic sock man.” His son now owns the sock business.

sneakers
I am running out of things to say in these blogs. We need to take that one day off of blogging because the end of the semester is coming. I cannot wait for Summer because this semester is killing me. I am glad it's finally getting warm but that means my room is going to be hot as hell for the rest of the semester. Sitting in my dorm is like sitting on the sun.
Since I can't think of things to blog about, my friend told me to blog about sneakers so I will. Many different types of sneakers have been created since the first term of a sneaker was uttered in 1887 by the Boston Journal of Education to describe the rubber sole of a shoe that made it less squeaky. The British equivalent of "sneaker" is "trainer." They have since become very popular. Now such brands as Nike and Adidas have become very important in the sneaker making business. Did you know Nike's finances have never been in the red? Jerry Seinfeld owns over 500 pairs of white sneakers. Sneaker can also be used to describe an ocean wave or a comic book character in "The Dandy." Now, sneakers dominate society with so many people wearing them on an hourly basis. New types of sneakers are made all the time with many different designs so everyone, no matter what they like, will enjoy a design. Rocky Balboa's wore converse sneakers in the movie. This is just a tiny bit of the diverse and long history of sneakers. I hope this was interesting, even though it was pointless. Below is a link to 101 cool facts on sneakers.

I'm hoping I can think of something to write about next week other than sneakers. Now I have to finish revising my letters to the editor to upload. I think this assignment might be the worst of my grades in this class. Also, the team that resurrected the Adidas company in the 90s was made up of ex-Nike executives. I need a new pair of sneakers cause mine are torn to crap.

Blog about life
Sorry that this blog is a couple hours late. I had most of it done a couple of days ago as a draft but totally forgot about it because I was studying for a test.
To tell the truth, I really have nothing to say this week. I have found this week to be dull and boring to say the least. This week was just a lot of soccer and homework. My indoor soccer team was really good having no bad players and one who played for the Inter Milan squad in Italy. Although we lost on forfeit so I was really angry because we are now out of the tournament. Especially when I know our team had a lot of potential to win the tournament.
This weekend I am planning on going home for Easter. I have never been home for just a weekend this year because I think there is no point with only like a day to be there. I feel like I'd be driving home for a majority of the weekend, and thus I would have little time to do anything, especially my work. My roommate goes home for the weekend like ever other week. I really enjoy having the room to myself and having the time to do whatever I want for a weekend. But my mom said she wanted me home so I'm going home. And it is nice to go home to forget all about the classwork for a day or two.
I am not looking forward to my Multivariable Calulus test tomorrow. I feel the test will be a lot tougher than the first test and I think there could be a lot of screw-ups. Andreas knows what I'm talking about. The rest of my week will be easy after the test but I really hope I do well on this test. I am glad this english class has no tests because I freaking hate tests.

March Madness
I am really enjoying this year's March Madness Tournament. It sucks that we didn't make it in, but there have been a lot of upsets, which are always exciting. I had Kentucky winning the whole thing, so Kansas losing helped me a lot, considering that everyone else had them winning. If a team like Cornell won the whole tournament, then that would totally awesome. My dorm did a tournament bracket contest and everyone pretty much just announced that there is no way they they can win. Although, I am very curious to see how far we get in the NIT Tournament, since we deserved to be in March Madness.
I am totally dreading today at the moment. I have to meet with a couple of friends to tell one of them that we are taking him off the lease of our apartment for next year. He has started doing drugs all the time and has turned into a total jerk, and we are constantly getting into fights. We all still want to be friends with him, but we can't live with him. He will be so pissed but we really don't have much of a choice because he really thinks he can do anything he wants in OUR apartment next year. So yeah, this issue is not going to be fun to fix.
Yesterday, my indoor soccer team was supposed to have a game but the team didn't show. We were so pissed that they didn't because we were all looking forward to playing. But I don't understand how a team could pay near 100 dollars and then just give up. There are also many teams on the waiting list trying to play, while these losers just enjoy wasting money. Our team is really good though and I think we will win the whole tournament.
It's wierd how quickly it became warm outside. It snowed an inch the weekend before Spring Break, and now it is in the 60s. I did not expect to come back to warm weather so quickly. I just hope it stays this way because it was a really snowy and cold winter.

Blog Post #6, I Think, Maybe I'm Wrong
Only one more week until Spring Break. I just want to make it through this week with good grades. I am swamped with work for the next week, as I always am before a break. That is why I am doing my blog tonight when I would usually put it off until Monday. I plan on not rushing to get everything done Sunday night. I don't plan on doing much over break since I won't have a car for the majority of it. Spring Break is usually the time for me to show off my true laziness.
So we have a rough draft due this week in English. I thought the class in the library was quite helpful because it made researching for this report so much easier. And I known citations and works cited are important and all, but they are such a pain. They often take a majority of my time on the report and can really frustrate me. But my report is on something I'm interested in so it won't be that bad. I also have to do scholarship applications and sign up for an internship this weekend, which will be a blast.
Do you ever have those friends that just fight with each other and you can't figure out why they are friends? A couple of my best friends are always fighting. Normally, one of them says something stupid or something that is a complete opinion, and the other will just cut them down for like an hour about the most stupid topic. I noticed this when they were doing a bit of drinking and they started fighting about the bus schedule and Eminem. But it wasn't the alcohol talking because they do this all the time. How can such a pointless argument last so long. A couple hours later they are best friends again and the cycle continues. I mean I understand arguments and disagreements but it gets rediculous at a point. I guess everyone has friends like that but it can get annoying.
That's all I have to say. I guess I'm just going out now since it is Friday night. You're welcome for typing such an awesome blog.

Creative Writing Blog
Audience: college students or Mortal Kombat 3 fans
Detail: A boy who still uses a 1990-looking computer program
Setting: In a computer lab
Character: A girl who went to a Christian Camp over the summer that was a very spiritual experience who is to start college again for the fall semester.
“I have to go to the computer lab after class to take my test,” Emily said to her friend as she took out her Bible. Emily had recently had a spiritual awakening at Bible Camp over the summer. She said bye to her friend and walked to the computer lab while reading her Bible. She read the Bible aloud since she felt it would help her realize the message of the parable she was reading. When she arrived she noticed Josh sitting in the corner with his computer. Josh's computer looked older than he was and he was often ridiculed for it. Emily had just started being nice to him since she learned at camp that no one should be left unloved. She sat next to him and noticed that he was concentrating hard on his computer. She asked him what he was doing and he answered, "I'm owning punks in Mortal Kombat 3." He suddenly got really angry and yelled at the screen of his old computer, "This idiot thinks he can kill me with Subzero's ice attack." Emily had remembered Mortal Kombat from the 90s but didn't really know much about it but she did realize that it was a violent game and tried not to look at it. While he played the game, she was trying to read him passages from the Bible but he wasn't listening to her. She also felt the yelling at the screen was immature and childish.
Although, Josh asked her to play and she played a match so he wouldn't feel bad. She got addicted to the game within seconds and suddenly she found herself yelling at the screen. She said things like, "I'm going to wipe that smile off your face with a scorpion spear move." She first noticed that she was into the game when she was impaling Raiden with Kitana's fans. She played all day and chopped off many heads to become an even better player than Josh. That is how she went from being a spiritual girl to a video game addicted one. Emily now plans on playing Mortal Kombat 3 until the day she dies. No one knows if she will go back to being spiritual or if she will continue to kill b***hes in Mortal Kombat 3.

Olympics
Weekends go by way too quick in college. It seems like on Friday and Saturday all I'm doing is having fun and sleeping. Before I know it, it's Sunday and I have a ton of homework to do. I should really manage my time better on the weekends and maybe I would get this blog done a lot earlier.
Well the winter Olympics in Vancouver are going on now and I have seen quite a few people watching it in my dorms. I find that the Olympics have some weird sports in it that makes me wonder how someone gets into a sport like that. Maybe it's just because they weren't good at any other sports. For instance, the biathlon is a weird combination with guns and skiing, which seems pretty cool. I'm not saying it's stupid, but that I haven't heard of it until recently and it seems odd that someone would train their whole life for the biathlon instead of football or soccer. I actually enjoy watching the bobsledding, ice skating, speed skating, and snowboarding. The Olympics are cool because it is one of the only times all countries get along. Sports really bring people together. Like at the end of an Olympic event, everyone, whether they won or lost, are congratulating each other on their performance. Two countries at war would have their participants shake hands after the events. But I don't think anything like what Michael Phelps did will happen for a while. Although, I find the World Cup the most exciting sports event whenever in comes up and it's going to be here in June. We also have a United States team that could become the underdog team that goes far this year, as long as Davies gets healthy.
I was also looking earlier at the Grammy winners this year and it made me realize what a crappy year of music it has been. Taylor Swift won best album with only mediocre reviews. I know a lot of people like her and she is very popular but come on. I don't like how the most popular artists now are Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and Taylor Swift. I guess it doesn't matter as long as I get the music I like.

Dear Diary: Snow/Spring Break
Dear Diary,
It has been so long since we have last talked. I have longed to put my quill to your paper.
Just Joking.
I have decided to write this blog earlier than usually because I am snowed in and I have nothing to do. So I might as well get this done now. So snow has totally screwed up my weekend. I like snow every once in a while but it has been snowing nearly nonstop. I had plans this weekend but now I can't really do anything. A lot of my friends are also angry about snow ruining their plans. I got a call from my cousin in Alabama and apparently they even got off because of snow. I usually play soccer every Friday afternoon but it was cancelled. There is no way I am walking to a party tonight or tomorrow in this. Why has it only been snowing on weekends? I want to have like a Wednesday off or something. According to the weather website, we are supposed to get snow all day today and tomorrow. At least I got some sleep last night because I have been close to passing out in almost every class of mine. Everyone in my dorm knew classes would be cancelled today from the hype of the storm. I'm surprised my roommate decided to drive home for the weekend. In high school I would have had like a month off for snow this much and this often. I wonder if we will get any more days off for snow.
Now to change subject to the school semester so far. It has been going by pretty quickly. We are already heading into our fourth week. I'm surprised on how early the Spring Break is. Spring Break is a month away and it feels like we just arrived. Spring Break is also going to be a very cold break. I was thinking of migrating south like Florida for break because it would feel more like a Spring Break. For me, this semester is going to be very tough so I'm looking forward to all the breaks we will be getting.
Sleep!!
I want to write this blog on sleep. It's the last thing you want at night but the first thing you think about when you wake up. I love sleep with a capital S. Although, since I have early classes every day, I have had an inadequate amount of sleep. So it is the thing on my mind right now. Last semester I took naps daily but my resolution this semester was to get the sleep I needed at night. But being on an all guy floor makes this very difficult. Maybe I'm just angry about the amount of sleep I got last night. I'm fine with booming music, slamming doors, and screaming, but please keep it before 4 AM. It's tough to sleep when a new kid is knocking on my door every five minutes to tell me about some girl's number he got. For instance, last night a kid across the hall threw an empty soda bottle at me while I was sleeping. While it might not have hurt, it woke me up and was completely unnecessary. That is why I can't wait to have my own room in an apartment next year. This made getting up this morning really difficult. Maybe I'm just old school but I like my sleep, unless it's a Friday or Saturday night. While I'm on things that annoy me, my basic engineering is only two credits and yet I spend forever on work for that class. There is always a project due and I have to go to meetings with my group members every week. Also, it seems all we do is program in that class. Credits never show how much work you put into a class. I feel like such a downer today but I'm just tired.
Now if I could just change topics. Since the Super Bowl is coming up, I will talk about that. I am pulling for the Colts but only because I don't like the Saints. I hope the commercials are better than the last few years. The last few years haven't had the greatest of commercials. The Super Bowl is such a big event in the United States that it should be a national holiday. I just hope I'm not busy doing all my homework Sunday night during it.

Music's Impact
One of my favorite hobbies is music and I spend many hours a day listening to my favorite artists, whether it is while doing homework or riding on the bus. My playlist just gets larger and larger every year, and it never gets old. It's funny how spirited people will get about their favorite music, especially when others don't see the same way as you. I lost count of how many times my friends have been in an argument over the world's "best" song or band. I laugh at these times afterwards because it is all opinion and it shouldn't be a topic to fight over. Obviously music is important in many people's lives. For instance, it has been used in ceremonies for thousands of years to represent sorrow and happiness. Although, now there is a much larger variety to listen to and causes opinion to be more segregated. I guess that is why there is so much debate among modern music. Look no further for the impact of music in society than The Beatles. We have all seen the video of The Beatles coming to America. No one else on Earth could have had that type of an introduction. The Beatles created a new type of sound and become superstars. Sports athletes might be popular but not this popular. Musicians are coming up with new and creative sounds every day. The good songs are known by nearly everyone around the world in a day. The evolution of music has been amazing. Music began as a religious expression tool and now it is in almost everything known to man. Think about it. You can go to the mall and you will hear music, and even movies had music without any speaking in it. I know someone that likes every genre of music out there, and it's interesting to meet people and learn what genre they like. Through meeting people, I have learned about new artists and songs that have become regularly played on my ipod. I personally can't wait to see where music goes in the future. I am always anxiously waiting when my favorite artists will come out with a new album. What will the next new genre of music be? Only time will tell.
