Blog Post #6, I Think, Maybe I'm Wrong

Only one more week until Spring Break. I just want to make it through this week with good grades. I am swamped with work for the next week, as I always am before a break. That is why I am doing my blog tonight when I would usually put it off until Monday. I plan on not rushing to get everything done Sunday night. I don't plan on doing much over break since I won't have a car for the majority of it. Spring Break is usually the time for me to show off my true laziness.
So we have a rough draft due this week in English. I thought the class in the library was quite helpful because it made researching for this report so much easier. And I known citations and works cited are important and all, but they are such a pain. They often take a majority of my time on the report and can really frustrate me. But my report is on something I'm interested in so it won't be that bad. I also have to do scholarship applications and sign up for an internship this weekend, which will be a blast.
Do you ever have those friends that just fight with each other and you can't figure out why they are friends? A couple of my best friends are always fighting. Normally, one of them says something stupid or something that is a complete opinion, and the other will just cut them down for like an hour about the most stupid topic. I noticed this when they were doing a bit of drinking and they started fighting about the bus schedule and Eminem. But it wasn't the alcohol talking because they do this all the time. How can such a pointless argument last so long. A couple hours later they are best friends again and the cycle continues. I mean I understand arguments and disagreements but it gets rediculous at a point. I guess everyone has friends like that but it can get annoying.
That's all I have to say. I guess I'm just going out now since it is Friday night. You're welcome for typing such an awesome blog.

Creative Writing Blog

Audience: college students or Mortal Kombat 3 fans
Detail: A boy who still uses a 1990-looking computer program
Setting: In a computer lab
Character: A girl who went to a Christian Camp over the summer that was a very spiritual experience who is to start college again for the fall semester.

“I have to go to the computer lab after class to take my test,” Emily said to her friend as she took out her Bible. Emily had recently had a spiritual awakening at Bible Camp over the summer. She said bye to her friend and walked to the computer lab while reading her Bible. She read the Bible aloud since she felt it would help her realize the message of the parable she was reading. When she arrived she noticed Josh sitting in the corner with his computer. Josh's computer looked older than he was and he was often ridiculed for it. Emily had just started being nice to him since she learned at camp that no one should be left unloved. She sat next to him and noticed that he was concentrating hard on his computer. She asked him what he was doing and he answered, "I'm owning punks in Mortal Kombat 3." He suddenly got really angry and yelled at the screen of his old computer, "This idiot thinks he can kill me with Subzero's ice attack." Emily had remembered Mortal Kombat from the 90s but didn't really know much about it but she did realize that it was a violent game and tried not to look at it. While he played the game, she was trying to read him passages from the Bible but he wasn't listening to her. She also felt the yelling at the screen was immature and childish.
Although, Josh asked her to play and she played a match so he wouldn't feel bad. She got addicted to the game within seconds and suddenly she found herself yelling at the screen. She said things like, "I'm going to wipe that smile off your face with a scorpion spear move." She first noticed that she was into the game when she was impaling Raiden with Kitana's fans. She played all day and chopped off many heads to become an even better player than Josh. That is how she went from being a spiritual girl to a video game addicted one. Emily now plans on playing Mortal Kombat 3 until the day she dies. No one knows if she will go back to being spiritual or if she will continue to kill b***hes in Mortal Kombat 3.

Olympics

Weekends go by way too quick in college. It seems like on Friday and Saturday all I'm doing is having fun and sleeping. Before I know it, it's Sunday and I have a ton of homework to do. I should really manage my time better on the weekends and maybe I would get this blog done a lot earlier.
Well the winter Olympics in Vancouver are going on now and I have seen quite a few people watching it in my dorms. I find that the Olympics have some weird sports in it that makes me wonder how someone gets into a sport like that. Maybe it's just because they weren't good at any other sports. For instance, the biathlon is a weird combination with guns and skiing, which seems pretty cool. I'm not saying it's stupid, but that I haven't heard of it until recently and it seems odd that someone would train their whole life for the biathlon instead of football or soccer. I actually enjoy watching the bobsledding, ice skating, speed skating, and snowboarding. The Olympics are cool because it is one of the only times all countries get along. Sports really bring people together. Like at the end of an Olympic event, everyone, whether they won or lost, are congratulating each other on their performance. Two countries at war would have their participants shake hands after the events. But I don't think anything like what Michael Phelps did will happen for a while. Although, I find the World Cup the most exciting sports event whenever in comes up and it's going to be here in June. We also have a United States team that could become the underdog team that goes far this year, as long as Davies gets healthy.
I was also looking earlier at the Grammy winners this year and it made me realize what a crappy year of music it has been. Taylor Swift won best album with only mediocre reviews. I know a lot of people like her and she is very popular but come on. I don't like how the most popular artists now are Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and Taylor Swift. I guess it doesn't matter as long as I get the music I like.

Dear Diary: Snow/Spring Break

Dear Diary,
It has been so long since we have last talked. I have longed to put my quill to your paper.
Just Joking.
I have decided to write this blog earlier than usually because I am snowed in and I have nothing to do. So I might as well get this done now. So snow has totally screwed up my weekend. I like snow every once in a while but it has been snowing nearly nonstop. I had plans this weekend but now I can't really do anything. A lot of my friends are also angry about snow ruining their plans. I got a call from my cousin in Alabama and apparently they even got off because of snow. I usually play soccer every Friday afternoon but it was cancelled. There is no way I am walking to a party tonight or tomorrow in this. Why has it only been snowing on weekends? I want to have like a Wednesday off or something. According to the weather website, we are supposed to get snow all day today and tomorrow. At least I got some sleep last night because I have been close to passing out in almost every class of mine. Everyone in my dorm knew classes would be cancelled today from the hype of the storm. I'm surprised my roommate decided to drive home for the weekend. In high school I would have had like a month off for snow this much and this often. I wonder if we will get any more days off for snow.
Now to change subject to the school semester so far. It has been going by pretty quickly. We are already heading into our fourth week. I'm surprised on how early the Spring Break is. Spring Break is a month away and it feels like we just arrived. Spring Break is also going to be a very cold break. I was thinking of migrating south like Florida for break because it would feel more like a Spring Break. For me, this semester is going to be very tough so I'm looking forward to all the breaks we will be getting.

Sleep!!

I want to write this blog on sleep. It's the last thing you want at night but the first thing you think about when you wake up. I love sleep with a capital S. Although, since I have early classes every day, I have had an inadequate amount of sleep. So it is the thing on my mind right now. Last semester I took naps daily but my resolution this semester was to get the sleep I needed at night. But being on an all guy floor makes this very difficult. Maybe I'm just angry about the amount of sleep I got last night. I'm fine with booming music, slamming doors, and screaming, but please keep it before 4 AM. It's tough to sleep when a new kid is knocking on my door every five minutes to tell me about some girl's number he got. For instance, last night a kid across the hall threw an empty soda bottle at me while I was sleeping. While it might not have hurt, it woke me up and was completely unnecessary. That is why I can't wait to have my own room in an apartment next year. This made getting up this morning really difficult. Maybe I'm just old school but I like my sleep, unless it's a Friday or Saturday night. While I'm on things that annoy me, my basic engineering is only two credits and yet I spend forever on work for that class. There is always a project due and I have to go to meetings with my group members every week. Also, it seems all we do is program in that class. Credits never show how much work you put into a class. I feel like such a downer today but I'm just tired.

Now if I could just change topics. Since the Super Bowl is coming up, I will talk about that. I am pulling for the Colts but only because I don't like the Saints. I hope the commercials are better than the last few years. The last few years haven't had the greatest of commercials. The Super Bowl is such a big event in the United States that it should be a national holiday. I just hope I'm not busy doing all my homework Sunday night during it.
